ICS Triplex is a company that specializes in safety control systems, specifically Emergency Shutdown Device (ESD) systems . During the 1990s, many companies were discussing the safety of TMR and Dual Modular Redundancy (DMR) structures . In general, TMR was considered to be safer than DMR because of the different underlying philosophies of 2oo3 voting structures and 1oo2 redundancy structures . Triconex, one of the companies that arose from the acquisition of August, became famous for its TMR technology. ICS Triplex also developed its own TMR technology which became very mature . GE also began using its GMR technology, and HIMA eventually developed a product called the 2oo4D, which was a TüV certified quadruple modular redundancy (QMR) CPU structure .

ICS Triplex has been dedicated to the development, production, and manufacturing of TMR safety control systems . At the time, ABB and ICS were strategic partners, and if a customer wanted to use a TMR safety system, ABB would actively promote ICS's products . In the late 1990s, ICS completed its product line upgrade to Trusted, which was a TMR structure safety system .
